Thanks to Band Together
Aug 1, 2008

Oh what a night May 10th was!!!!
Just ten weeks prior to the concert date, Band Together signed George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic to headline it’s 2008 concert event to benefit SAFEchild. From that point on, the entire Band Together committee put their lives on hold to produce an amazing event. And what an event! More than $109,000 was raised in corporate donations and VIP ticket sales while an excess of $47,000 was committed in in-kind donations.
A VIP area was staged for guests who bought tickets for $125. VIP guests were treated to delicious food, wine and beer; chair massages; deluxe bathroom facilities; and a raised platform from which all stage activities could be seen.
Danny Rosin,President and one of the founders of Band Together commented, “We hit high notes in dollars raised (for a non-emergency event) and overall attendance!”
Josie Reeves, Concert Chair noted the excitement saying, “I’m not even sure how to describe the exhilaration of seeing THOUSANDS of arms waiving and hearing the sea of screaming voices - knowing how much both meant for SAFEchild and for Band Together!! Last night, we executed our mission: Raise funds? Check! A BIG ONE! Raise awareness? Check - we were able to spread the SAFEchild gospel to thousands of potential volunteers, financial supporters, and you never know, maybe even some potential program participants. Raise the bar? Check!”
SAFEchild is grateful to the dedicated grassroots group who call themselves Band Together. Band Together formed in November, 2001 when a group of more than 40 young business leaders from across the Triangle came together to raise funds for the families of 9/11 victims. The common interest in the group was music – specifically bands. So they decided to host a concert benefit and raised in excess of $60,000. The group realized that it had a produced a successful event that could be replicated, so they became a 501©(3) non-profit whose mission is to raise awareness and funds for charities through high-profile fundraising events. Each year, Band Together chooses a partner charity with which to host their concert. In 2008, SAFEchild was the proud to be Band Together’s partner.
“In just ten weeks, Band Together raised over $109,000 in corporate donations and ticket sales; put SAFEchild’s name in front of more individuals and businesses through direct contact, speaking engagements and media placements than we would ever have been able to do without this partnership; and certainly raised the bar when it comes to event planning and execution. The energy that has came from this grassroots group of young professionals is contagious, not only for SAFEchild, but for the community at large. Their selfless commitment to improving the lives of others is evident in all they do. These guys rock!” said Linda Nunnallee, Development Director at SAFEchild.
