Welcome Baby

SAFEchild’s Welcome Baby program accompanies a new mother on the greatest adventure of all — becoming a mom!

New moms are often exhausted, uncomfortable and overwhelmed caring for their infant. Welcome Baby is a home visiting program that pairs a new mom with an experienced mom who provides support that is so critical during the first year of motherhood. Welcome Baby volunteers offer not just friendship, but are trained to help new moms cope with the challenges of caring for an infant. Any first-time mom in Wake County may join the Welcome Baby program, and there is no fee to participate.

Michelle Putterman, a registered and licensed public health nurse, manages the Welcome Baby program. For more information about Welcome Baby, either as a participant or a volunteer, please contact Michelle at mputterman@safechildnc.org or 919.743.6140, ext.144.
