Danita Morgan SAFEchild's 2010 Commitment Award Recipient

Chris White and Danita Morgan

The Commitment Award recognizes exceptional devotion to the SAFEchild mission of eliminating child abuse in Wake County by helping adults and children create nurturing environments free from abuse and neglect.

SAFEchild is delighted to present our 3rd Annual Commitment Award to Danita Morgan nominated by fellow longtime SAFEchild supporter Greer Lysaght.

“In 1999, rather than accept a term on the SAFEchild board of directors, Danita chose to accept the position of SAFEchild’s first Development Director. Danita served in that capacity from July, 1999 until April, 2001. A born fundraiser, Danita translated her love of SAFEchild and her commitment to child abuse prevention into creating new fundraising and public awareness initiatives and strengthening existing ones. Her accomplishments include establishing the annual campaign, leading the capital campaign to purchase SAFEchild’s current home, participating in Raleigh’s Red Wolf Ramble, expanding the size and profitability of the chair auction, identifying important grant opportunities, attracting legions of wonderful volunteers, honorary chairmen, supporters and donors, and starting important donor appreciation activities. Many of the fundraising initiatives Danita began are still being used at SAFEchild today .

In 2001, Danita left SAFEchild as an employee, but never drifted far from its doors and mission. Since 2001, Danita has used her vast understanding of the agency to provide volunteer support for all her previous SAFEchild endeavors. She can accurately be called SAFEchild’s chief unpaid cheerleader and advocate. “

What a blessing for families in Wake County that Danita continues her longstanding, passionate, energetic commitment to SAFEchild and to child abuse prevention. She is an inspiration for us all. Thank you, Danita!
