Volunteer Opportunities

SAFEchild offers meaningful volunteer opportunities for English and Spanish speakers. Program volunteers are trained to mentor new mothers, lead children’s groups while parents attend class, or present the Funny Tummy Feelings program to first grade students in Wake County schools. Volunteers also are needed to provide administrative support, participate in the SAFEchild Speaker’s Bureau, and help with special events.

“I have been a Nurturing Program volunteer for going on 10 years. I started with the 4-8 year olds and knew I had found something that fit for me,” says Dan Thompson, a program volunteer and past SAFEchild Board member.

“The lessons we teach seem simple, yet they are lessons we as adults take for granted or often forget, such as the impact of praise and criticism and using your personal power to make others feel special. Over the years there have been challenges and magical moments. Kind of like life!”

“The volunteer team is committed, engaged and always willing to do whatever it takes. I feel truly blessed to have found them and SAFEchild. It’s a fulfilling experience – come check it out!”
