Volunteer Opportunities

SAFEchild offers meaningful volunteer opportunities for English and Spanish speakers. Program volunteers are trained to mentor new mothers, lead children’s groups while parents attend class, or present the Funny Tummy Feelings program to first-grade students in Wake County schools.

Interested in learning more about serving as a volunteer with SAFEchild? All new and prospective volunteers are invited to an orientation for new volunteers on Saturday, September 9, from 9am to 1pm at Pullen Baptist Church, 1801 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh 27605. For further details and to reserve your spot, please contact SAFEchild’s volunteer coordinator, Ginna Bustle, at 919.232.5661.

Dan Bustle, a program volunteer and past SAFEchild board member says:

“I have been a Nurturing Program volunteer for going on 10 years. I started with the 4- to 8-year olds and knew I had found something that fit for me.

“The lessons we teach seem simple, yet they are lessons we as adults take for granted or often forget, such as the impact of praise and criticism and using your personal power to make others feel special. Over the years there have been challenges and magical moments. Kind of like life!

“The volunteer team is committed, engaged and always willing to do whatever it takes. I feel truly blessed to have found them and SAFEchild. It’s a fulfilling experience – come check it out!”
